WINTER IS HERE

Well that's it for Halloween for another year. Hope you all had a fantastic night.

Now we enter winter. Not a favourite season of mine at all. Due to genetics and a very active lifestyle I do not have the ability to withstand the perishing temperatures of below 10 degrees celsius. It's just so hard for me to function in such low temperatures(I should have been a bear). There is also the long, dark and boring nights that seem to drag on and on unless there is some excitement around.

There are of course some elements of the winter that I do like such as snow and........well that's it basically.......and I suppose those crisp sunny dry days that are few and far between in Ireland.

I could say christmas too but I wouldn't be completely true to myself saying I like it but there are a few things that I do like about the holiday. Socializing and catching up with relatives and friends. The happiness it brings to people especially the kids. All in all I think it's just a load of stress and hassle as it has become so commercialized now.

I do enjoy getting out some days and trekking about seeing all the changes in nature happening right under our feet. Snow covered hills and mountains, forest floors carpeted in decaying leaves, nuts and berries with that earthy/charcoal aroma.

It's great to come home afterwards and tuck into a steaming bowl of stew or just a nice hot cup of tea while you warm yourself by whatever means you have yourself(fire, rad, heater). Most of all, what I do enjoy about the winter is the cozyness of being inside when the weather is just too nasty to be out and about. It's just so comforting looking out at the misery when you are all toasty and relaxed indoors(especially wrapped in a quilt).

So, I hope the winter is kind to you all and ye have many happy and exciting experiences this winter. Stay safe, stay warm and stay good 😉

  2. I'm not a lover of winter. Summer is definitely my season 😊 but there are moments during winter that I enjoy. Fires, hit cups of tea, stew and eating Dad's homemade scones while there still warm ☕
