Battling Negativity

Maybe it was just the terrible weather the last few days or maybe it's the effect of "Lockdown 2.0" but the last 2 days have been a bit strange. Nothing has really changed in my day to day activities really as I've gone for a cycle and 2 walks each day. I've noticed though that my motivation is decreasing a little every day. It could be the fact that there's not much to do while waiting for the torrential downpours to cease so I have a chance to get a quick session of physical activity(I can't swing a cat in my place so I need the great outdoors). Sitting on your own pondering on the current state of affairs isn't really healthy for the mind and can lead to a lot of negative thoughts and for some, actions.

I can usually deal with negativity quickly and safely but the last few days have just been that little bit tougher. I didn't even want to blog the last two days as you can see from the post dates. I've been looking around the house for things to do to keep my mind occupied(believe me, there's loads to do) but just didn't have that "Go do it" drive at all. Trudging around the small cramped rooms that actually need a bit of sorting sighing heavily while dismissing the option and returning to drop onto the couch with the thought of "there's nothing to god damn do".

All that changed this morning thank god. I felt a bitter cold at about 7 a.m. and got out of bed(cursing the cold) and turned on the heating to prepare for my eventual rise later. I did notice that the sun was blasting in the bathroom window so I opened the window and saw the first frost of the year. Well I was instantly smiling in awe of the ground covered in sparkling white frost and the clear blue sky with the sun smiling back at me. That's all it took for the negativity to disappear as I realized that it's just so beautiful out there in the world. Nature and the wilderness have so much to offer us and especially in times like this when we are facing such challenging times and a rapid changing lifestyle.

So, if you are consumed by the negativity which has become quite normal in many of us in this situation, get up, get out and explore the wonders of nature in the world. Believe me, it will have you heading towards positivity in no time. You just have to go out and open your eyes and look all around and up and down 😉

Simply beautiful nature. Keeping us positive about life 💪

  1. The blue sky and the sun blazing in the sky also gave me a bit of a lift this morning. The rain and wind the last few days was very gloomy. Let's hope we get more bright, dry days for a while. X
