SPOOKY TIME!!!

BECAUSE HALLOWEEN IS TOMORROW MUHAHAHA!

Well, it's my favourite time of year again and as the years go on I never loose the excitement of Halloween. Such a spectacular time of year. The end of autumn and the beginning of winter. The early darkness and niggling cold all around with the scent of fallen leaves and dampness in the air.
Although this year we are having to adjust to the new norms of lockdowns and restrictions, I know it won't stop us from having a fantastic Halloween in our households. There are so many ways to have fun indoors surrounded by our own families and enjoy this special night and join the world of witches, monsters, goblins etc.
Now because it's only one day away(EEEEK!) I have come across a few websites that offer last minute ideas for costumes and games for the whole family. It's all D.I.Y. stuff so let there be no panic among you happy halloweeners about getting to shops for the things here.

Check these sites below for a range of options.

I'm not done with the Halloween antics yet MUHAHAHAHAAAA!!

I WILL BE BACK WITH LOADS MORE 😱😱😱

But first I need to ask Y'all something.............

Now we couldn't have a Halloween without some good old fashioned ghost stories.  I remember being told quite a few uncomfortable incidents wit forces of the unknown on dark nights, down dark roads, in dark fields by dark woods.

So what better way to wind down, or up the last few hours of the crossing of worlds than with some spooky tales around the fire(careful now) or heater or candle even(candles probably better).

If you don't have your own stories and tales these links have a some good choices for al ages. Enjoy and don't be scared 😱😱😱

Halloween stories for kids and nervous people

17 True Halloween stories that are not for kids at all

Well I'm sure you will all get some good ideas for your own fun and game at home tomorrow night. I'll hope to be on here myself for a bit during the festivities to check the cobwebs on the page and add a few of my experiences through the day.

Have a fun and(dare I say it) SPOOKTACULAR Halloween! 😱😱

Ah yes! A second Sunday this weekend 😁 I had actually forgotten it was. This pandemic has everything upset. The Cork Jazz festival didn't go ahead and Halloween is cancelled.

Fortunately it's a lovely sunny day at the moment so I'll be going for a stroll around.

Hope you all enjoy yourselves today, whatever ye get up too or don't 😉

Time is an illusion!

So I get up this morning. Have a coffee and a smoke(Ahem). I look out the window see the sun shining, birds fliting about, leaves blowing everywhere. The radio is on, a couple of typical emotional reactionary lovey dovey songs(commercialized, kid influencing nonsense) play through and the news comes on. It's 10.00 a.m. Cool!

I get on with the rest of my morning and early afternoon. Listening to the radio again about 20 minutes ago and the guy says, so I hope ye all put your clocks back last night and enjoyed the extra hour for daylight savungs time!!!!!!!

WTF!!! Really, why didn't I feel that hour? Why didn't I notice it this morning as being brighter earlier? Why, because it just doesn't exist. Time iwas invented by humans!!

That's something to ponder eh! Hope some of your heads don't hurt too much!!

Didn't waste today.

Well hello and how is everyone! It's lockdown 2.0 day 3 and to me, it's just been another normal couple of days. I was under the weather yesterday and was on the couch all day. Fighting the symptoms of lyme disease is a bit tough sometimes. Getting the vitamins and minerals into me though and a bit of help from antibiotics(unfortunately but necessary). Felt much better this morning so went for a stroll in the afternoon.

Such beautiful sites out there. I love finding hidden places all around the place that even some locals don't even know about. Like this waterfall in the video below. I actually don't know the name of the place and I'm sure someone mentioned it to me before. I'll find out and let ye know here. It's an amazing place. Off the road, through a couple of fields and over fences but the view is worth it.

Coming into the place is like a scene from the film Jurassic Park. The peaks of the mountain can be seen first and they arc around a waterfall and lake surrounded by a few green fields and a few clusters of trees here and there. Have a look for yourselves in the video here.

Amazing isn't it. There are so many things to see in everybody's locality even in cities and suburbs. You just have to notice them. Exploring is a great way of keeping yourself occupied, active and healthy. It's great when you have the good weather days like today and the winter seems to be approaching fast. Cold temperatures and of course hurricanes, like the one bearing down on us right now, rain, wind and snow are on the way so there's no time like the present to get out exploring(well, not right now, it's 10 at night so maybe hold off till at least first light anyway) and see what's beautiful in your area. 😀

                             Now for some humor again.

                          Goodnight! 😃

Another wave. Another lockdown. Stay safe everyone. It won't be easy. ✌💪🙏

As the winter draws closer(feeling it right now brrr), my favorite festival by far is Halloween. I've always loved it. I have great memories of my childhood(and not so childish) halloween experiences. From trick or treating and the fun and games at home with the family bobbing for apples and coins, telling ghost stories and eating treats till I was sick.

It's no different for me today in my adulthood. I always get that exciting feeling when the days get duller and colder and the leaves are covering the footpaths leaving the trees bare and scrawny looking. It's a time of year when all the harvesting is coming to an end and we get ready for the long and cold winter ahead.

I wonder how many of ye know the origins of halloween. I know a lot of people think it all started in America. Well that just isn't true!! Believe it or not it is an old Celtic tradition originating in Ireland and Scotland where the pagan Celts celebrated the autumn harvest and thanked the gods for the harvest and asked to bless the next seasons crops for a good harvest again.

They had bonfires, offerings(treats) to the gods to appease them, singing and dancing and also they dressed as monsters, witches and goblins to ward of evil from the land. Through the years as people explored and travelled looking for new lands and homes, they took the traditions with them and while practising them in other lands, introduced the tradition to the rest of the world.

Halloween is now a worldwide celebration with more and more countries adopting it and integrating it into their own cultures. Pretty cool hey!

Thanks for being here 😀

Well. how is everyone today? Good I hope 😃. So, to give you an idea of the unpredictable randomness ordinarily, have a look at this guy in the photo above.

As I mentioned in my 1st post, I live in an area surrounded by mountains, hills, woods and fields. There are streams and rivers criss-crossing the area too. I love walking and trekking about exploring and investigating all over. I come across many awesome scenic sites. I will show you some of the things I've come across and documented as I've explored. Like the helpful chap above whom I owe a debt of gratitude.

I decided to trek the woods at the foot of Clara mountain in Millstreet, Co. Cork. I hadn't really been keeping an eye on my bearings as I explored and soon found myself quite lost and confused. After a while though I came upon an old tree stump with moss growth and soon visualized this fella who must have known I had become lost and was giving me directions as too how to get back to the track.

It actually worked as I found the path again in the direction he was pointing. I have edited the photo just by adding some eyes to the photo so The face can be seen. It was a weird and wonderful experience of the wonders of nature. 😎

                Thanks for being here, BarryC.

1st blog Jitters.

Hello to anyone reading 😄😄

So I've created myself a blog page and decided to go for it. What else is there for me to do when I have become bored of the new norm of waiting to find out what's next from our government and health officials to let us know the latest developements. Staaarange times like 👀

My name is Barry and I'm middle aged in a frighteningly uncertain era in the history of the world. It's crazy to me reading this as I'm writing and knowing that this will be a major historical event talked about and documented for centuries to come. Anyway. I live in Co. Cork, Ireland in a beautiful rural mountain town. Mountains and green hills and wooded areas as far as the eye can see. I'm lucky. Most people in the world don't live in such a healthy and safe environment.

The world really is a vast diversity of so many concoctions of varieties of life as it is and as it happens. That's what this blog will be about. How the world is. How I see it through my eyes, ears and understanding. Hopefully it will become an interactive blog with people from all over the world engaging and sharing our lives experiences as they are happening. As the topics come up or when the thoughts arise and we can share, understand and learn about all the differences in the world and I suppose the similarities too.

It can also be a place of learning, making friendships and connecting with the world in safety at this time in our lives.

Well, that's it for now. Just to get my first post out of the way 😂

Be safe, mind everyone and everything. Above all, ENJOY LIFE 😉

Forgot that I had this blog 🤔😂😂😂

Ok, so going through old book marks I found a link to this blog spot. Forgot completely that I had this. I obviously set it up while boredo...
